Students enjoy the Red Bull Visit

It’s already nearly time for our second Beach Volleyball competition – this Semester is just flying by.  Our first one was a great success in April and at the end of May the defeated semi finalists will be trying to get the Trophy back.  We are lucky enough to have had the Red Bull team volunteering to come onto the complex for some of the events that we hold here and last month they brought the DJ truck with them, as well as the Red Bull Angels (always popular.)  The Red Frog team helped us with the BBQ too so we had lots of extra people on board – let’s hope the second comp is as popular.  Photos of the winner will be on here after the event.

Free Food for Varsity – Welcome BBQ always a hit

Despite the rain, the promise of free food encouraged the students to brave the possible downpour.  Thankfully the rain stayed away and the free food was a hit.  Beefburgers and veggie burgers were cooked by the management and the Red Frogs team.  The Red Bull crew turned up and gave a way free Red Bull to everyone.  The DJ even managed to set up somewhere dry and entertained the crowds.  Thanks again to everyone that got involved and game out to play.  Next event  – the Beach Volleyball competition . bbq

Students say O week 2018 was the best ever !

The rain may have decided to crash the party but that didn’t stop O week from happening at Varsity Apartments.  Marathon Monday, Toga Tuesday, Wine Wednesday, “why are you wearing that” Thursday to name a few of the themed events going on.  Buses from the Helm nightclub came every night to pick up those enjoying the parties at the nightclub and returned everyone safely home.  The Red Bull angels came in with free Red Bull and of course, the wonderful Red Frogs were on hand most days with pancakes.  One day of sunshine had everyone enjoying the pools but then back to the rainy days.  Now it’s time to settle in and start looking at those textbooks.  Next events scheduled is the Welcome BBQ on 8th March from 6pm and of course, the ever famous Beach Volleyball Competition, Saturday 24th March from 10am.  Bring it on

Welcome Pancake Brekkie for the new students

It’s a few weeks until O Week so to help the new students fit in on the complex we had a little get together by the Rec Pool this week.  We invited the Red Frogs team to come along and made pancakes, berries and ice cream for any hungry students.   The Red Frogs have a weekly presence on the complex and it was great to see lots of students mingling and making friends.  Only 2 weeks until O week … red frog

Students farewell, students hello !

Last Semester finished with lots of goodbyes, address swapping and tears.  Christmas and New Year went by in a flash and suddenly here we are getting ready for Semester 1, 2018.  Provisional dates have already been picked for the Welcome BBQ and the first Beach Volleyball competition.  Most of the apartments have been newly painted and we can’t wait to see who arrives this year. farewell

Student Beach Volleyball Competition no 2

We’ve already completed the first Beach Volleyball competition of the Semester.  The students had so much fun that we have promised another one at the end of this month.  The last competition day was perfect weather and there were lots of teams in fancy dress this time. The Red Frogs team came in to help with the BBQ – burgers/veggie burgers and salad in bread rolls kept the teams fueled for the grueling rounds.  The winning team won t shirts, vouchers and of course, the chance to hold the Beach Volleyball Trophy.  Watch this space for news of the next one. beach volleyball

Welcome to the new students Semester 2,2017

We have just completed a fabulous O Week here on the complex , welcoming lots of new students to the Sunshine Coast.  We’ve had Toga Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Golf Pros and Tennis Hoes Thursday to mention a few. Everyone had a great time – now it’s time to start all of that University work.  Enjoy.

Student Beach Volleyball Competition, Semester 1, 2017

This semester’s Beach Volleyball competition was a blast.  The weather was beautiful even though storms were forecasted for later.  Lots of teams got dressed up in fancy dress and there were some really energetic games.  The Red Frogs came to help with the BBQ and served up beef burgers, veggie burgers and sausages.  What a great day.  The winning team was made up of some of our long term tenants; they have obviously had the most time practising 🙂

I made lots of amazing Australian and international friends at Varsity.

The beach volleyball competitions were the best fun ever. Great prizes. There is always something fun to do at Varsity.

Varsity is super close to the Uni so you can always get there really quickly. Having so many students around Varsity to study with – that helped me as an international student.

I like Varsity so much I stayed for 2 years. The staff are really friendly and there are so many great facilities – the lap pool and gym were my favourite.

When I arrived at Varsity I didn’t know anyone at all. The other three people in my apartment were all first year students too and didn't know anyone either. We all helped each other and it didn’t take me long to feel at home at Varsity.

Varsity Rocks!

I was really happy when I saw how close Varsity is to the Uni and the great bike tracks around the area. And the Kangaroos in the Uni grounds are amazing.

I won the Mac Book Air Pro prize at the start of my stay and it helped so much with my Uni studies. Thanks Varsity.
