This semester’s Beach Volleyball competition was a blast. The weather was beautiful even though storms were forecasted for later. Lots of teams got dressed up in fancy dress and there were some really energetic games. The Red Frogs came to help with the BBQ and served up beef burgers, veggie burgers and sausages. What a great day. The winning team was made up of some of our long term tenants; they have obviously had the most time practising 🙂
We made it – we survived O week. There was Marathon Monday, Traditional Toga Tuesday, Hawaiian & Foam Party Thursday and Sunday Session. It was big, fun and memory making. We are just getting organised now for the Welcome BBQ this Thursday, 2nd March just in case you missed meeting any people last week.
Christmas seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye and we are now prepping up for the new arrivals of 2017. We’ve already got a competition going for the early arrivals to win two tickets to Australia Zoo – all they have to do is send a photo of what they like best about living at Varsity. We’ve had lots of entries and will pick a winner next week. The recurring theme seems to be the pool is the favourite place on the complex which is understandable in this heat! The Welcome BBQ is booked in for March 2nd and of course, O week will be happening from 20th-25th February. We’ll add photos soon 🙂
Check out this video of our most recent beach volleyball competition made by one of our students – it was a great day .
Another popular event took place this month at Varsity Apartments – Semester 2’s Beach Volleyball Competition. The weather was superb and lots of teams battled it out for most of the day to claim the prizes and esteemed title of winners. The Red Frogs came along and helped with the BBQ and the atmosphere was great. Well done to the winners – you fought hard for it. Another match has been scheduled for October – just because we can 🙂
After the first week of settling in at University, we thought it would be a good time to throw the Welcome BBQ. This is an ideal opportunity for the students on the complex to meet some of the other students, grab some free food, meet the fantastic Red Frogs and listen to some music. As ever, the BBQ was extremely popular and we hope that some new friends were made. It all helps with the settling in at Varsity Apartments.
It’s always great to see the enthusiasm of the new students during O week here at Varsity Apartments. It is even funnier to see them trying to make their first Toga outfit out of old sheets and safety pins. We are half way through O week and Toga Tuesday was a huge success. Looking forward to the rest of the week.
We would like to wish a fond farewell to all of the students leaving us this semester. We have international students returning home, graduating students and students simply moving on to other places. We would like to wish you all well and thank you for staying here at Varsity Apartments. We hope you have enjoyed your time with us. Don’t forget to drop back in and say hello some time – we love catching up on ex-tenants’ news. And remember … if you have been good, you can always come back and stay if you are still studying!
Teams had been practising for weeks, getting ready for Semester 1’s Beach Volleyball Competition. UniCentral sent 6 teams over to try and steal the cup from us … but NO CHANCE!. Team Canada, from Varsity, thrashed them all. It was a great day; the rain stayed away, the Red Frogs helped out with the BBQ and all of the students got behind their teams. Well done Varsity – what a great job!
