Students farewell, students hello !

Last Semester finished with lots of goodbyes, address swapping and tears.  Christmas and New Year went by in a flash and suddenly here we are getting ready for Semester 1, 2018.  Provisional dates have already been picked for the Welcome BBQ and the first Beach Volleyball competition.  Most of the apartments have been newly painted and we can’t wait to see who arrives this year. farewell

Student Beach Volleyball Competition no 2

We’ve already completed the first Beach Volleyball competition of the Semester.  The students had so much fun that we have promised another one at the end of this month.  The last competition day was perfect weather and there were lots of teams in fancy dress this time. The Red Frogs team came in to help with the BBQ – burgers/veggie burgers and salad in bread rolls kept the teams fueled for the grueling rounds.  The winning team won t shirts, vouchers and of course, the chance to hold the Beach Volleyball Trophy.  Watch this space for news of the next one. beach volleyball

Welcome to the new students Semester 2,2017

We have just completed a fabulous O Week here on the complex , welcoming lots of new students to the Sunshine Coast.  We’ve had Toga Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Golf Pros and Tennis Hoes Thursday to mention a few. Everyone had a great time – now it’s time to start all of that University work.  Enjoy.

Student Beach Volleyball Competition, Semester 1, 2017

This semester’s Beach Volleyball competition was a blast.  The weather was beautiful even though storms were forecasted for later.  Lots of teams got dressed up in fancy dress and there were some really energetic games.  The Red Frogs came to help with the BBQ and served up beef burgers, veggie burgers and sausages.  What a great day.  The winning team was made up of some of our long term tenants; they have obviously had the most time practising 🙂

O week – students had a blast

We made it – we survived O week.  There was Marathon Monday, Traditional Toga Tuesday, Hawaiian & Foam Party Thursday and Sunday Session.  It was big, fun and  memory making.  We are just getting organised now for the Welcome BBQ this Thursday, 2nd March just in case you missed meeting any people last week.

Welcome Students of 2017

Christmas seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye and we are now prepping up for the new arrivals of 2017.  We’ve already got a competition going for the early arrivals to win two tickets to Australia Zoo – all they have to do is send a photo of what they like best about living at Varsity.  We’ve had lots of entries and will pick a winner next week.  The recurring theme seems to be the pool is the favourite place on the complex which is understandable in this heat!  The Welcome BBQ is  booked in for March 2nd and of course, O week will be happening from 20th-25th February.  We’ll add photos soon 🙂competition

Goodbye 2016 Students

Looking back over the photos from the year, it’s been a fun filled one.  Lots of events and competitions, sunshine, storms and a few tears but lots and lots of laughter.  We wish the students that are leaving the best of luck, keep safe and enjoy the Christmas break.

I made lots of amazing Australian and international friends at Varsity.

The beach volleyball competitions were the best fun ever. Great prizes. There is always something fun to do at Varsity.

Varsity is super close to the Uni so you can always get there really quickly. Having so many students around Varsity to study with – that helped me as an international student.

I like Varsity so much I stayed for 2 years. The staff are really friendly and there are so many great facilities – the lap pool and gym were my favourite.

When I arrived at Varsity I didn’t know anyone at all. The other three people in my apartment were all first year students too and didn't know anyone either. We all helped each other and it didn’t take me long to feel at home at Varsity.

Varsity Rocks!

I was really happy when I saw how close Varsity is to the Uni and the great bike tracks around the area. And the Kangaroos in the Uni grounds are amazing.

I won the Mac Book Air Pro prize at the start of my stay and it helped so much with my Uni studies. Thanks Varsity.
